Gurtej Hunjan (a.k.a conTEJus) , drummer, DJ , producer... a triple threat!  Tej began his training as a tabla player at the tender age of 7.  When he was 12 he fell in love with the art of Dj ‘n and bought his first pair of turntables, a mixer and seven records with the money he’d earned working as a strawberry picker. 

At 13 Tej was given the incredible opportunity to join the critically acclaimed world music band, The Toronto Tabla Ensemble (founded in 1991 by his tabla teacher Ritesh Das).  At 14 his mother bought him his first dhol from India, an instrument he quickly learned thanks to his musical training thus far.  The rest of his adolescence was spent learning and evolving as a musician with musical influences ranging from Indian classical to urban contemporary; a glowing testament to the Canadian experience of a second generation immigrant. In 2003 Tej joined the ground breaking artistic collective iDrum and began performing regularly at Toronto’s most prestigious nightspots.
